Swancon: How it went – the short version

Swancon was my first ever Australian con and I totally fell in love with it. (Now I just have to figure out how to make enough money to come back every year!)

Swancon 2013 Opening ceremonyAt Swancon, everyone knows each other, and the con is not very big, which makes for a warm and welcoming atmopshere that is
utterly charming. Fans I’ve met have been very, very friendly and helpful. Programming was interesting, and I love the fact that I was lucky
enough to see all the panels I wanted to.

Also, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of people who came to my European SF literature and fandom presentation and want to thank all of them for being a wonderful audience. (I was a bit nervous.)

This has been a wonderful experience for me and I can only hope that the rest of my Australian GUFF trip, which will
take me to Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and finally to Canberra and Conflux, is as much fun as this con has been.

Everyone who did not catch up with me and would like to can find me on Facebook, Twitter (@rantalica) or can check out my GUFF itinerary
on www.rantalica.com where I will be blogging about my Australian experiences, cultural and fandom differences between Australia and Croatia,
other assorted stuff like my less than awesome photos from Swancon.
